From the employer

HR Advisor Distribution Centre Santa Maria da Feira

We are Europe’s fastest-growing non-food discounter, operating a rapidly expanding logistics network with 16 Distribution Centres across Europe. In June 2025, we opened our first DC in Spain, today we are about launching our second distribution center and, to further support our growth in the Iberian Peninsula, Action is now moving to the next level by opening another Distribution Centre located between Porto and Aveiro, in Santa Maria da Feira.

About your role

As HR Advisor you will play a key role in the successful start-up of our new Distribution Centre in Portugal which will be launched in August 2027. You will work closely with the HRBP Supply Chain for Spain/Italy/Portugal and with the local DC management team to provide full HR support across the employee lifecycle, from hiring to on boarding, administration, development and performance management.

You will be the main point of contact for day-to-day HR matters at our new Distribution Centre and will play an active role in its successful start-up. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the recruitment and ramp-up of approximately 200 employees, covering both blue- and white-collar positions and working closely with temporary employment agencies;
  • Providing hands-on HR support across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee administration, development, performance management and offboarding;
  • Advising and supporting managers and employees on HR matters, Portuguese labour law, company policies and HR procedures;
  • Managing local labour relations and maintaining constructive relationships with employee representatives, Works Council and/or trade unions;
  • Coordinating HR administration and ensuring accurate employee data and documentation, in close cooperation with Payroll and the Shared Service Centre;
  • Supporting workforce planning, absence and vacation management, HR reporting and other key people indicators;
  • Coordinating employee development initiatives and supporting the implementation of corporate HR policies and processes;
  • Participating in local and international HR projects and continuously improving HR processes as the Distribution Centre grows.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant experience as HR Generalist, ideally in an international and multicultural environment;
  • Excellent work organization skills (accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail);
  • Ability to work autonomously and to set priorities;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Strong social and empathetic skills, with a high sense of discretion;
  • Creativity and a high level of initiative;
  • Higher education;
  • Experience in conducting recruitment processes at various organizational levels;
  • Good working knowledge of Portuguese labour law, basics of payroll calculation, and personnel administration
  • Good command of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Availability to travel, mainly at the beginning for onboarding purposes.

What is nice to have:

  • Experience in the logistics/manufacturing industry;
  • Familiar with SAP & SuccessFactors;
  • Experience in a multicultural, multinational environment.
