Who this fits

This VP role suits a self-directed recruiter or wealth professional who can earn credibility with leading advisors and guide complex moves to a decision. You’ll be based in Roseville and travel regularly across the West Coast, with additional trips tied to national work. Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses are preferred, not required.

From the employer

HilltopSecurities is building a national capability to recruit experienced financial advisors and teams. This is one of two strategic hires that will shape that effort from the start and will be located in Northern California. You will recruit experienced advisors and teams, with an emphasis on the West Coast, and work directly with the Head of Wealth Recruiting on national recruiting initiatives and closely with the West Regional Director on West Coast growth. You will be measured on results: experienced advisors and teams who join HilltopSecurities.

What You'll Do

Recruit experienced advisors and teams

  • Use and expand your West Coast network to identify experienced advisors and teams who are a strong fit.
  • Build and manage a disciplined pipeline, moving opportunities from first conversation through first meetings, home-office visits, offers and transition.
  • Learn each advisor's business and clients and show clearly how a move to HilltopSecurities benefits their clients first and their practice second.
  • Partner closely with the West Regional Director on target markets, recruit meetings, offers and transitions, so new advisors and teams are set up to succeed.
  • Develop referral sources that create a repeatable flow of qualified opportunities.

Help build the national recruiting engine

  • Partner with the Head of Wealth Recruiting on national priorities, target markets and recruiting campaigns.
  • Help design recruiting messaging, processes and tools that scale across the country.
  • Identify succession, team and other strategic opportunities in priority markets.
  • Bring competitive intelligence from the market into how HilltopSecurities positions itself.
  • Work across the firm to remove obstacles that slow a recruit's decision or transition.

What You Bring

You know the wealth management business, you are well connected with advisors on the West Coast, and you know what it takes for a successful advisor to decide to move. You may come from advisor recruiting, wealth management business development, branch or complex leadership, external wholesaling, or advisor consulting.

  • 10+ years in wealth management, brokerage or financial services.
  • Established relationships with financial advisors and industry professionals, especially across the West Coast.
  • A track record of turning relationships into measurable results, whether recruits, assets or revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of the competitive landscape across wirehouses, regional firms, independent broker-dealers and RIAs.
  • Credibility with top-producing advisors and teams, and the judgment to guide a complex move to a decision.
  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial. You create opportunities rather than wait for them, and you own your recruiting results.
  • Based in Roseville, with regular travel across the West Coast and as national initiatives require.
  • FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 preferred, not required.

Why This Role

  • Build, don't inherit. You will help create a national recruiting capability, not maintain someone else's.
  • Direct access. You will work alongside the leadership driving the firm's wealth management growth.
  • A platform worth recruiting to. Wealth management backed by investment banking, clearing and the broader Hilltop Holdings organization, including PlainsCapital Bank and PrimeLending.
  • Visible impact. Every advisor and team you bring in is a direct contribution to the firm's growth.
  • Meaningful economics. $150,000 base with $250,000 target total compensation tied to recruiting results.
